This is going to be my new can crusher and
it’s a believe, it’s a foreign channel iron female I tit up. Athens this
is for sicks old well pipe that are four feet long down a piece of inch and a
half square tube. If any haves square and if any have been around long enough
to remember the old course a Camino project well that’s no longer an operation.
I robbed the front unit
hubs out of it as well as the rims and these are little taller a 14 inch tire
that came off of an old Ford Taurus. I just want to get the biggest diameter
tried I could because try to help all the cans in the stock Corsica tire size was
low little thinner of a rubber. So is a smaller outer diameter anyway whatever.
Crushing Mechanism:
So what I’m
doing is cold front unit hobo now normally this is hooked to the knuckle and
the wheel spin on like so. What I’m doing this is a piece of one inch regular
old one inch round stock and polished up with the sander wheel. The grinder and
it’s basically it does fit through there but it’s a real page it is kind of
almost a press fit but can slam through there and I already did that on these one
then I’m going to mount it onto pillow blocks like so. That will drive the tire
and then electric motor with a right there will get mounted on the side. This
pulley which will then be on this end and now I have this mocked up here the
way I went to be and this is this my plan gonna then going here.
Then weld
the hub to shaft but I just wanted to mock it up with the bearing it up with
the bearing to make sure it’s gonna run centred in the channel. So I knew
exactly where on the shaft. I had to weld if so they’re pulling back part now
and well that old unit hub onto this shaft and then I’ll mock it up probably
with the better chief pushed here there and mocked up to and get. That one to
run through and well down on well here’s my test run and setup need to come up
with better motor mount but well that works. I think it runs a little too fast for can recycling I
need to get a bigger pulley here and maybe little bigger pulley here a bigger motor.
I don’t know it works fine know hand feeding a couple cans of the time.
Next I
wanted to build like a just dump a five gallon bucket or garbage bag or some
cans, through it can run them all through but that’s just the three horse motor
and it can’t third horse motor and it can’t keep up but it’s fine. It’s just
feeding at hand and feeding it and we’ll this here with bolts to plywood, that’s
just temporary vie script up there. I’m gonna run some two four across here and
maybe a little better opera. But I’m going to call it a success; I ran a couple
hundred thousand cans through it so I’ll fire up quick.
We’ll dump
another bucket through one think I wanted when with white wine to do it this
way is wanted one that cloud take a can that was in any condition like didn’t
mater if it was dented or folded or what have you would still crush it and it
leaves them individually it doesn’t make a bail because there’s some scrap
yards that don’t like the bakes because they don’t know if you dumb some gravel
in there or some other stuff to make it very more and are a rare running speed
single damage full big man you can do it.
